![]() You have to try Avila's Mexican Restaurant. DFW Guide says go ahead. Avila's was named as one of the Best Restaurants in Dallas. This awesome place has served Dallas for 23 years food that traces back to the Avila family's San Antonio roots. If you love the mexican sandwich, you have to try the brisket gorditas. Absolutely awesome! Of course they also serve standards like tacos and enchiladas. But what is the secret? The quality of ingredients consistently sets Avila's apart: they use real dairy sour cream, fresh ripe avocados in the guacamole, completely exquisite brisket, and the tenderest stewed chicken you ever want to put into your mouth. I think the real test is the beans, cause everyone has them. These beans are seasoned with onion and spices and mashed, not fried in lard, and the long-grain rice is slow-cooked, not parboiled. I think that Anita Avila still oversees the kitchen staff just like she did at home, while son Ricardo watches the front of the house. It's been a formula for success since the restaurant opened in 1986, and don't you miss any chance to get there. 4714 Maple Ave Manor House Apartments 1222 Commerce St, Dallas, TX 75202 214-748-1556
