![]() The Capital One Bank Dallas YMCA Turkey Trot is the largest Thanksgiving Day event of its kind in the country. Starting from humble beginnings 41 years ago at White Rock Lake, it has grown into the undisputed "Way to Begin Thanksgiving Day" for thousands of locals as well as those who travel to share in our great event. NEW FOR 2009 3 Mile Course Change..... Now a 5K OK all you 3 milers. This year the 3 mile course is being changed to a certified 5K route. With this change, 5Kers will also have the opportunity to be chip timed. New Timing Options 5Kers you asked for it...... This year ALL PARTICIPANTS will have the option to be chip timed with the new disposable D-Tag. Whether you are running the 8 mile or the 5K, when you sign up you will have the option to be timed or untimed. There will be a $5 timing charge if you choose to be timed. All timed participants will start at 9 am. Please be respectful of your speed and allow the faster runners in front. The un-timed participants will begin at 9:15 am. MORE TO COME..... The Trot tradition has now extended through generations of participants who celebrate the holiday with grandparents, relatives, friends and their youngest who we look to see with their own families in the years ahead. The Dallas YMCA supports strong kids, strong families and strong communities - all of which are represented at the Trot. Participants are also helping to support important YMCA programs. We look forward to seeing you - bring a big group! - to this year's Capital One Bank Dallas YMCA Turkey Trot. This year participants have the option of being timed on either the 8 mile or the 5K events. The Timed portion of the race will begin at 9am. The Un-timed event begins at 9:15am.
